Ervin Garip

Ervin Garip is an architect currently holds a PhD degree in “Architectural Design” from the Faculty of Architecture, Istanbul Technical University. He got his B.Sc degree in “Architecture” in 2000, and M.Sc degree in “Architectural Design” program in 2003 from ITU. In 2009, he completed his PhD. He worked as a visiting scholar at North Carolina State University College of Design, USA in 2009. His projects have been awarded, exhibited and published by several institutions; awarded 6 first prizes, 2 second prizes, 1 third prize, several honorable mentions and special awards. Presently he is continuing his professional work at Istanbul Technical University Department of Interior Architecture as an Associate Professor.

Zafer Garip

Zafer Garip is a civil engineer currently holds a masters degree in “Earthquake Engineering” from Istanbul Technical University. He got his B.Sc. degree in “Civil Engineering” in 2007 from ITU. He worked as site engineer in construction of several housing, cultural, office and urban infrastructure projects. Currently he is continuing his works on construction and contributes to architectural, urban, and interior design projects within 1+1 design team.

Banu Garip

Banu Garip is an architect currently holds a PhD degree in “Architectural Design” from the Faculty of Architecture, Istanbul Technical University. She got her B.Sc degree in “Architecture” in 2000, and M.Sc degree in “Architectural Design” program in 2003 from ITU. In 2010, she completed her PhD. She worked as a visiting scholar at North Carolina State University College of Design, USA in 2009. Her projects have been awarded, exhibited and published by several institutions; awarded 6 first prizes, 2 second prizes, several honorable mentions and special awards. Presently she is continuing her professional work at Istanbul Technical University Department of Interior Architecture as an Associate Professor.

About Us

1+1 was founded by Ervin Garip and Banu Garip in 2000 as a design studio based on the idea that design and practice in architecture should be integrated with academic-experimental studies. Currently 1+1 is working on architectural, urban, and interior design projects that have been awarded, exhibited and published by several institutions.
